Almost two years ago, I revived a long dormant newsletter. I chose Substack to be its home because I felt that it was a community of real writers and other creative people. I was right. And I was wrong.
Today, Substack is nothing more than another social media platform — a hybrid of Medium, Facebook, Twitter (okay, it’s X now) and Instagram. With chat and email too. It has become too cluttered, too crowded and too noisy.
I don’t like clutter. And I abhor noise even more. I just want a quiet place where I can write, and share food photos and stories with truly interested readers. So, I’ve left Substack.
Moving forward, this will be the home of the newsletter called Umami Notes. Instead of signing up for a Substack account, subscription is handled by WordPress. Fill up the form below to have new posts sent directly to your inbox.
Umami Days Newsletter is dead. Long live Umami Notes!
